Customs procedure

Cargo distributed via Antwerp is subject to customs regulations that take as much account as possible of the needs of trade, industry and transportation. The customs consider te port as a single zone under customs supervision. Goods can be stored, handled, repacked and even processed in the port and only pay customs duties when being consumed or employed in Belgium.
Duty is not payable upon reexportation.

Antwerp Customs dispose of the SADBEL-computersystem to carry out their task. This system is a computernetwork which links the customs main office and the user/declarant. The network is linked to the central customs computer in Brussels. The system is operational 24 hours.
The user  has to enter a number of obligatory information for each declaration which will be checked by the computer for acceptance. Once accepted the user/declarant can print out the customs document which then has to be presented to the customs officer on the quay for validation. In other words, the customs officers only restrict themselves to verify the goods and the documents.

The unification of the European market allows us to declare goods ( Import as well as Export) for any customer inside the European Community.
In this case we act as a fiscal representative.

Interfeight antwerp subcontracts a bonded warehouse with in-house customs facilities and is linked onto the SADBEL-computernetwork.
